Marketing translation

An advertising text is only translated once it triggers the same effect in the target market as in the original.

Advertising that also sells in the target language – claims, campaigns and websites transcreated with an effect focus, in your brand voice and adapted to each target market.

Advertising thrives on wordplay, sound, allusion and emotion — and that is exactly what a literal translation rarely survives. We work with transcreation: experienced advertising copywriters in the target language reshape your message so that it works culturally and meets your marketing goals, instead of merely repeating the same sentence in other words.

So that your brand stays recognisable in every language, we capture brand voice, tone and core terms in a tone-of-voice guide and a glossary. These specifications apply to every copywriter — so website, brochure, newsletter and advert sound like the same brand across all markets.

Claims and campaigns that land in the target market too

Why is an ordinary translation not enough for advertising copy?

A good translation is faithful to the source text — a good claim is faithful to the effect. Where a slogan works with a pun or a cultural reference, the literal version would fall flat in the target market or be misunderstood. Transcreation deliberately breaks away from the source sentence and produces the same effect in the target language, if need be with an entirely new image.

How do you keep our brand voice in every language?

We do not translate into the blue but against your tone-of-voice guide: how formal or casual, how factual or emotional does your brand speak? If this guide does not yet exist, we develop a target-market brand voice with you that all future texts and translations align to — the basis for a consistent presence rather than random one-off translations.

Do I get several variants to choose from?

For claims and headlines, we usually deliver several options with a brief rationale of the effect each variant achieves. On request we include a back-translation into German — so you can see in black and white what your slogan actually says in the target market, and can help decide without speaking the foreign language yourself.

Marketing translation and SEO

From the brochure to the search ad — consistently localised

Do you also translate adverts with fixed character limits?

Google Ads adverts, banners and social posts impose hard character limits at which literal translations regularly break. We rewrite within these limits so that the core message and call to action are preserved — shortened, but not mutilated, and just as catchy in the target market as in the original.

Do you take into account the keywords the target market searches for?

For us, SEO is part of marketing translation. Before working on the text, we research the terms actually searched for in the target language and build them into landing pages, blog and campaign texts. This way your content is found in the target market, instead of mirroring a German keyword strategy that no one there types in.

Customer testimonial
Our campaigns were not translated but transcreated – with several claim variants and back-translation, so that we could judge the effect in the target market ourselves. Brand voice, timing and approvals fit across all languages.

FAQ

Marketing translation – frequently asked questions

What is the difference between marketing translation and transcreation?

A translation transfers the content, a transcreation the effect. For claims, slogans and campaign texts, we creatively rewrite the message in the target language – with several variants and a rationale – instead of transferring it literally.

What does a marketing translation cost?

Standard texts from €0.95 per standard line; transcreation of headlines and slogans is calculated per concept, as several variants are created. You receive the binding fixed price in advance, usually within about two hours.

Do you also translate SEO keywords and metadata?

Yes. We research the terms actually searched for in the target market and localise title, meta description, headings and slugs – including a clean hreflang structure, so that the right language version ranks.

How does our brand voice stay intact across all languages?

Through a style guide, wording specifications and a maintained terminology glossary that grows across projects. This way the website, the newsletter and the packaging consistently sound like your brand.

Can you take on the layout and file formats?

Yes. We deliver ready to typeset for web, print and social – from the CMS file through InDesign to platform-appropriate ad formats with matching character limits.

Professional article

Marketing translation with a legally sound basis

Effective marketing does not end with the claim: terms of participation, mandatory disclosures and accompanying corporate documents must hold up in each target market. In addition to campaigns and content, we translate General terms and conditions, Annual reports and Market studies – on-brand and legally reviewed.
