Who recognises my foreign certificate?
That depends on the qualification: school qualifications are decided by the certificate recognition office of the respective federal state, foreign vocational qualifications nationwide by IHK FOSA, and higher-education qualifications by the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) with the help of the anabin database. For each of these procedures the certified translation of your certificate is part of the documents.
Do I have to have my grades converted?
No — the formal grade conversion is carried out exclusively by the recognition body, not the translation agency. We render grades, grading scale and subjects word for word and, on request, add an explanatory note on the scale, so that comparability becomes evident without anticipating the result.
Are qualification titles translated literally or explained?
We render the official title of the qualification faithfully to the original; where a literal translation would be misleading, we add a short note, so that the recognition body can follow the classification without a query.

For a university application, uni-assist or the university's enrolment office examine your final certificate together with the grade overview (Transcript of Records), as a rule as a certified translation. If it is missing, the application counts as incomplete and is set aside — we render subjects, scope and grading system consistently, so that the documents are complete on time.
Is an English-language copy of the certificate sufficient without a translation?
That is decided by the examining body: some universities dispense with a translation for English-language originals, others require it as a matter of principle, into German or English. We clarify the required scope with you in advance, so that you do not commission twice.

Does my German certificate need an apostille for use abroad?
Often yes — foreign universities and authorities require an apostille on the original or a certified copy. For certificate and education documents this is issued by the competent state authority, depending on the federal state for example the Bezirksregierung, not the translation agency. We advise on the sequence and deliver the matching certified translation.
Is the translation needed for a job application?
For an application, a professionally sound translation is usually sufficient for employers to classify the qualification and grades; if a procedure requires formal recognition, we additionally deliver the certified version. We tailor the scope to the purpose.
