Does a safety data sheet have to be translated into the national language?
Yes. Under Article 31 of the REACH Regulation, the safety data sheet must be provided in an official language of the Member State in which the substance or mixture is placed on the market. The recipient in the target country is entitled to a safety data sheet in their official language – the translation is therefore mandatory, not optional.
Do you keep to the 16-section structure per Annex II?
Every safety data sheet follows the binding 16-section structure under Annex II of the REACH Regulation, written in clear, understandable language by a competent person. We add country-specific information in sections 14 and 15 for the target market, and a revision date is shown.
Do you translate the extended safety data sheet with exposure scenarios?
Yes. For substances that require a chemical safety report, the extended safety data sheet contains one or more exposure scenarios in the annex. We transfer these together with the use descriptors and limit values consistently, without changing the technical meaning.

Do you use the official wording of the H and P statements?
Yes. Hazard and precautionary statements under the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008, GHS) are officially defined for each language. We adopt the H and P statements in the prescribed wording of the target language, rather than translating them freely – consistently on the label and safety data sheet.
How many P statements may go on the label?
On the label, under CLP Article 28, no more than six precautionary statements normally appear. When translating, we observe this limit and the correct selection and prioritisation of the P-statements for the respective product.
