Do operating and user manuals stay standard-compliant?
Technical manuals are subject to clear requirements: operating manuals for machinery follow the EU Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) and the instructions standard IEC/IEEE 82079-1, supplemented for machinery by EN ISO 20607; warnings, safety chapters and the CE marking information must be consistent across all language versions. From January 2027, the EU Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 replaces the previous directive and expressly treats the documentation as part of the machine. We translate accordingly – standards-compliant and with managed terminology.
How does terminology stay consistent across variants and updates?
Through a customer-specific glossary and a translation memory, designations, units and phrasing stay identical across product variants, language versions and document updates. For a new revision, we retranslate only the changed segments – this reduces costs, keeps phrasing stable and prevents versions in the field from drifting apart.
Does the layout come back ready for typesetting from FrameMaker, DITA or InDesign?
We translate directly in your format: FrameMaker, DITA/XML, InDesign (IDML), Word and Excel as well as content systems. Our in-house DTP department takes on line breaks, figures and captions – you receive the documentation back ready for typesetting, without copy-and-paste rework.

Is the process ISO 17100-compliant and audit-proof?
Every technical translation is revised under the four-eyes principle in accordance with DIN EN ISO 17100 by a second, subject-qualified person. The process – assignment, terminology management, independent revision – is documented and therefore robustly traceable for auditors and within your quality assurance.
Do I need the manual in every national language?
As a rule yes: the Machinery Directive requires the instructions in the official language of the target country, and the Product Safety Regulation GPSR (EU) 2023/988 has, since 13 December 2024, required instructions and safety information for consumer products in the respective national language. We deliver the appropriate versions in over 60 languages – with correct safety notices and symbols.
